Science Fiction Contest

And the official winner is...[Freyah]!

By a rather solid majority, too.

And the mod's choice... that'd be [Veltzeh].

Here's to a good race, and both winners are entitled to a request pic. Congratulations both, and especially you, Freyah!

Anyway, the basic idea is pretty obvious...every picture must have something to do with science fiction. On to the rules:

Basic Rules

1) No hitting, slapping or biting other contestants. No shoving in line...no...oh, wait...on to number two....

2) All entries must be your work, your whole work, and nothing but your work, so help you God. (Okay...maybe not your whole work...excerpts allowed...but the other two stick!)

3) All pictures must have to do with science fiction or future fantasy. Modern fantasy is okay although it's not the contest's intention. If it'd be okay in Zone 47, it's okay here.

4) Artistic nudity is fine. Porn is not. No borderline stuff.

5) You can each put in up to two entries.

The "official" winner on the contest winners page will be decided via a poll. A second, unofficial one will be determined by me since I don't always agree with polls.

I know I'm not the greatest artist around here by a longshot, but I do want to offer a prize, so...both winners get any request piece in any medium from [Nightshadow] as well as a badge.

I think I'm about done talking now...have fun!

7. [Lyndarsia] New picture. Will as a fox vampire boy driving a ship. The Ship in the back ground is Kara and her mother and twin brother escaping him. And the reason why his bangs are lighter than the rest of his hair is because his bangs are a red, whereas the other part of the hair is black. That's the earth and the moon in the background. And the night sky.. well, that's not my fault as the scanner did most of that and that pencils.. no matter how good they are.. will ALWAYS do that. Oh well.. hope you all like.

8. [Lady Selphius] This, if you are familiar with my 'Toxin Wing' series of art, is a futuristic version of the final stage of Avagalaxition. Anyway, The Ovinanngeti, or Yui, is the cross experiment between a B143 Model android and the infamous Toxin virus. After the virus escaped the Exavior Research Center in Germany, it spread across the Atlantic Ocean and the rest of Europe, leaving death and destruction in its wake. Since she's an android, she can't go through with the Avagalaxition process, meaning since she doesn't have the cells of any kind of living organisim, the virus can't infect her. It can, however, make her fall apart.

17. [Veltzeh]
Remember Zone 47 when it is gone.
Imagine this picture: A dark and dirty backalley in New York, 2142 - A mutated three feet tall rat in a black leather cape and sunglasses is frantically searching for spare parts in an old rusty cyborg body he found in a dumpster. Is this picture OK in Zone47? (If not, explain why)

2003-12-06 [Nightshadow]: Hey, why'd you remove your picture, bratkitty? I thought it was awesome!

2003-12-07 [bratkitty]: Oh, I was a little confused about the deadline thingy. ^^; It says above that the tenth entry would be the last, and mine was # 11. Is it still okay to post?

2003-12-07 [Nightshadow]: Hm...you were viewing an old version of the page somehow. That was true, but now the contest is reopened, this time with an indefinite deadline.

2003-12-07 [bratkitty]: Ah okay! ^^

2003-12-19 [Lyndarsia]: Shouldn't the winner of last contest be disqualified? *Head tilts*

2003-12-19 [Nightshadow]: Why would I do that? She won last time, and she's got to defend that title. If she beats everyone again it's because she deserves to win!

2003-12-19 [Nere]: Graphics...now theres a class i avoided....i couldn't draw a straight line with a ruler.... :P

2003-12-19 [Lyndarsia]: To make it fair to the other people to have another chance at winning? I'm not saying she's bad.. Heck, I voted for her myself.. but to get another person at a second chance..

2003-12-19 [Nightshadow]: Wait...wait...let me get this straight. So...to make the contest fair, I should delete one of the strongest entries...thereby making it easier to win? Selphius won fair and square on a premature date, and I'm certainly not going to disqualify her for the "real thing" because of it. Think of the previous contest as a primary election.

2003-12-19 [Lyndarsia]: But, think about it. To all of us other entries that haven't won, it wouldn't be right for her to win both times. She won one contest. It's like, "You had your 15 minutes of fame, now it's time for another."

2003-12-19 [Nightshadow]: You won one contest. You had your fifteen minutes of fame, now it's time for another?

2003-12-19 [Nightshadow]: You can just stand down on this, Kagome, because I'm not going to. You seem to be missing a serious point: this is supposed to be about the joy of competeting, of trying to pit your skills against those of other artists. The title isn't so important. My first date was premature. Therefore disqualifying Selphius would be terribly unfair because it bars her from the fun of the full competition. If you've lost sight of that, you need to rethink some things before entering every contest around.

2003-12-19 [Lyndarsia]: I could care less about winning the contest. She won. No matter of it being a premature date or what, she still won, it was still a contest. And if she won a second time, how fair would it be for the other people in the contest who didn't have a chance when one person won one contest twice..

2003-12-19 [Nightshadow]: The point is, you did have a chance. And you lost. Now you have another chance to beat the person who beat you. Take it or leave it.

2003-12-19 [Lyndarsia]: I know it's the point, I know this is your contest, but, I don't know. Ask around, the people I have asked found it not really fair. I know the winner of this contest did well and deserved the winning title. But you've reopened it. She's taken the winners circle. What are you going to do on the contest winners page? Put her picture twice if it were to win? To me, It's not really fair. But, it's not all just me. It can be the other contest participants as well. Ask around. Some might disaggree with me, some might not, but whatever it is.. I don't care. I just really find it unfair.

2003-12-19 [Leara]: It is fair kagome, if the other entrants are truelly artists, they'll respect losing if they lose to the best, by taking out the winner, your making it impossible for them to lose to the best. The point of the contest is to see who's the better artist, not 'oh you went last time! give me a chance!'

2003-12-19 [Lyndarsia]: *Shrugs* Oh well, I gave it my word. I still don't see the fairity of it. But alas, it isn't my contest either, now is it? Heh. But, I don't know. I still find it not quite fair. *Shrugs* Off to work for me. *Hates work*

2003-12-19 [bratkitty]: Also this time around, there's a lot more competition. There's a lot of talented artists who'd posted their work that you're overlooking, if she's beats out everyone again, then she deserves to win.

2003-12-20 [bratkitty]: One thing i don't understand here about people complaining about contests being unfair in their eyes is that these aren't official contests. Elftown is pretty much open to anyone, and they're prefectly free to create their own contests and run it how they like. It amazes me how when people are involved in something that's the least bit competitive, how everything suddenly becomes some sort of controversy. *shrug* Just a little food for thought...

2003-12-20 [Pnelma Tirian]: yes. well. whenever one enters something of a competition, they think that it is in their very right of entering that they should win.

2003-12-20 [Leara]: lol....that ones amusing....I won what? 1 of nearly 30 contests I've entered XD *snickers*
